Our narrowboat quest, Leaving Skipton West Yorkshire England UK. There are 2 week moorings between swing bridges 176 and 177 with 72 hour moorings further up in Skipton. With good facilities and several water points Skipton is very popular and we stayed for 10 days. There is a Morrisons supermarket and train station almost next to the canal, several good pubs and the high street within easy walking distance.
We did a lovely circular walk up the Spring Branch of the canal, through the castle woods and back into the town. In fact we did this walk twice as Sue and Steve visited from London so took them on the walk along with exploring the town and a pub lunch. The following day we collected some provisions and cruised down to Bradley for a BBQ picnic with our friends before returning to Skipton. As it was a Friday, Skipton was really busy with hire boats and we only just about found a spot to moor on our return. The weather was hot and sunny throughout our stay with temperatures averaging about 27 degrees. When we left we filled up with diesel and water, cruised down to Snaygill where there is an Aldi where we picked up some provisions. The following day was a 3 hour cruise to Kildwick( famous for its composting loo) where we stayed for 2 days before travelling past Silsden and onto Keighley where we moored up between bridges 194 and 195 in a lovely wooded area for 2 nights before our onward journey to Bingley.
