1st February 2019 We spent two weeks in Nantwich and really enjoyed our stay there, we managed to park the car by the cafe so had access to the car for the two weeks stay. Nantwich is a lovely market town with good facilities. The town is only a 10 minute walk with a Morrisons and Aldi for provisions and lots of great pubs and restaurants. The weather was quite variable and we had a couple of light dustings of snow and some freezing temperatures. We were due to leave Nantwich on 31st January but the ice was too thick for us to move. The following day was slightly better so in the morning we moved the car down to Hack Green and walked the 3 miles back. We had some lunch of homemade soup and freshly baked bread then moved the boat in the afternoon. During the cruise we unfortunately lost a GoPro camera overboard, neither of us was paying to much attention as I was feeding the ducks and Pat rested the camera on the boat hatch which is something he wouldn't normally do, we hit a bit of ice and the camera toppled overboard. We tried to fish it out with a pole but the boats propulsion as we reversed to retrieve it dragged the camera under the water. This was our first experience of ice breaking, it took us two hours to do the 3 miles down to Hack Green including the 2 Hack Green Locks. It was a bitterly cold day and by the time we moored up we were both pretty cold. The canal surface had been variable on the way with some areas fluid and other frozen solid, we didn't really enjoy the ice breaking as you can lose some control over the boat.
