This video is about Saltaire and our journey on our narrowboat DunWorkin
We left Bingley top lock on 30th July 2018, the weather was overcast with a temperature of 19 degrees Celsius. We cruised for about 3 hours, passing 11 locks and 1 swing bridge arriving in Saltaire at about 12.30pm.
Saltaire is a lovely little pennine village on the River Aire. Salts Mill is definitely worth a visit with a lovely art gallery which showcases local artist David Hockney along with independent shops and cafe's. Roberts Park is right next to the canal and has a children's playground.
We stayed in Saltaire for 2 nights and left on a cloudy August day, we cruised for about an hour passing through Shipley and 2 swing bridges and moored just before swing bridge 211.
we followed the footpath from the swing bridge, crossed the River Aire and took the footpath to Esholt where we had lunch at The woolpack Inn.(Emmerdales famous pub)
On Friday 3rd August we left our mooring below swing bridge 211 and travelled up to Rodley, passing through 4 swing bridges and 5 locks (Field Locks and Dobson Locks)crossing the beautiful Aire Valley.
We travelled about 4 miles and cruised for 5 hours. We had to wait a while at Field Locks as work was being carried out on the lock doors,
