3rd January 2019. We cruised for about 30 mins and moored up at Top Flash. Beautiful mooring with some lovely views over the countryside and River Weaver. Temperatures are regularly dropping to -4 overnight so the multi fuel stove is alight 24/7 and we are getting some really hard frosts in the mornings. We are only cruising for short distances now as even day time temperatures have dropped considerably and it gets really cold standing on the stern steering. We have also had some really lovely sunny days which although cold still makes cruising a lovely experience. We walked back to pick up the car and moved it down to Church Minshull and walked the five miles back to the boat.
On 4th January we cruised down to Church Minshull, we had moved the car the previous day. There are no shops in the village but they do have a lovely village pub and the car parked almost next to the boat.
We stayed for a couple of days and on 6th January we moved both car and boat to just outside Aquaduct Marina where there were some lovely views across the valley. We stayed here for 2 days and on our departure used the marinas facilities and chandlery. While here we moved the car to Barbridge Junction as we did not like parking in a small lay-by on quite a busy road. It was a 4.5 mile walk back to the boat. We cruised down to Cholmondeston and stayed in a beautiful mooring where we experienced some absolutely gorgeous sunsets.
On the 11th January we moved down to Barbridge ~Junction where we moored next to a busy road, it was a good spot for access to the car but quite noisy. There are no facilities here except for rubbish disposal.
There is quite a bit of lovely drone footage in this episode and Pat did some experimenting with different functions.
Snow is forecast next week so will likely move down to Nantwich where there are more facilities.
